Kiwiana Day

We had an amazing day yesterday celebrating the end of our Native to New Zealand inquiry.  We spent the day redesigning 'The Kiwiburger'.  We created our own burger boxes and then had a BBQ.  We thought our burgers were delicious!  And of course no party is complete without a dress up day!

Kiwiana Shape Poems

We created these shape poems using Comic Life on the computers.  We had to brainstorm kiwiana language and then use the words to create a picture of a New Zealand icon.  Here are some of the finished poems.  We think they are CHOICE!

Hexagons and Squares Maths

WALT: add more than 3 numbers together by first making pairs to 10 Here are Luke and Thinuka demonstrating the strategy they have been learning in class this week. Can you practice this at home? Post a comment with a new equation that you practiced at home and expalain how you solved it... e.g. 16 + 14 + 2 = I took the 4 off the 14 and made 16 into 20. So now I have 20 + 10 + 2 = 12

Learning the Ukulele

Room 20 and 17 have begun learning the Ukulele this term. So far we have learnt 2 chords - C and C7. Here we are rocking out a number called Lime in da Coconut! Half of us are doing actions while the rest jam on the ukuleles. This is our first song and we are pretty stoked!

Writing
